Welcome to Girls on the Run 2024-2025 at Ira B. Jones Elementary!

This spring, on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from February 17 through May 4, 2025, your 3rd-5th grade girl is invited to join Girls on the Run.

Girls on the Run is an afterschool program that isn’t just about running, stretching, or lap goals. It empowers a girl’s whole self now and in the future. Its programs follow an evidence-based model that builds confidence, teaches life skills and healthy habits, and inspires joy through movement.

At Girls on the Run (GOTR), you’ll find:

  • Group discussions facilitated by trained coaches.

  • Fun, movement-based games that teach teamwork.

  • Thought-provoking activities that enhance creativity and critical thinking.

Our school’s chapter is led by our School Counselor, Courtney Booth. GOTR will again be one of the clubs offered through our Growing Minds Afterschool Program this spring – although its schedule and registration/payment process differ slightly from those of other Growing Minds clubs. Families should register through Growing Minds, after which Ms. Courtney will reach out with payment information (the total cost is $180).

AFTERSCHOOL SCHEDULE

On Mondays and Wednesdays beginning February 17, participants will gather in the Jones gym when the school dismissal bell rings at 2:35 pm. We will move to the Student Services office at 3 pm, for girls to get changed (if needed) and have a snack. GOTR programming, including running practice time, will begin on the field outside the cafeteria at 3:15 pm and continue until 4:45 pm. Students should be picked up from the car line at the front of the school promptly at 4:45 pm.

CELEBRATORY 5K IN May

On Sunday, May 4, our spring season will culminate with a Celebratory 5K at Asheville Outlets!

Please contact Courtney Booth with any questions. We hope to see your student on the team this spring!
